EAGLE'S NEST ON GOOSE POND:
ASTONISHING VIEWS & PRIVACY
DIRECTLY LAKEFRONT
Lee,
Berkshire County, Massachusetts
Step back in time to
the shores of Goose Pond, heart of the Berkshires, c.1930. Nearly 4 acres;
Nearly 700 feet on the lake. A true Berkshire lakeside ‘camp’ from a lost
era offers stunning, wide, waterfront, breath-stopping views that must be
experienced. Incredible as it is... incredible possibilities.
Goose Pond
is a large, 225 acre lake hidden away, yet monents from the Berkshires'
major attractions including Tanglewood, Stockbridge, and Lenox. The average depth is 18
feet and maximum depth is 46 feet. The water is crystal clear and transparent to 17 feet and the bottom is
rubble with almost no acquatic vegetation. Fishing is quite good, with the following
eight species
noted: slargemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, red breasted
sunfish, brown bullhead, tessellated darter, white sucker and rainbow smelt. Traditionally the lake has been
stocked with rainbow and brown trout each spring and fall and annually with
broadstook salmon, when available. Trout fishing has usually been
excellent as this is a "premier coldwater pond" according to the
Massachusetts state Department of Conservation and Recreation.
You can also get in your kayak or
canoe and paddle across the lake to the protected Goose Pond Reservation,
owned and managed by the National Park Service. Or sit on your porch
gazing across the lake to the nearly quarter-mile of rocky shoreline or the
towering ridgeline which rises to 1,753 feet and is crossed by the
Applachian Trail.
